When setting goals and creating a vision for your practice, keep these 4 things in mind.....
May 16, 2024When setting goals and creating a vision for your practice, keep these 4 things in mind.....
You are building a life, NOT a practice!! Decide who you are, what you value and what your life's purpose is first! Then create a practice that is in alignment (no pun intended) with your values, identity and purpose!!
The quality of your life is determined by the quality of energy you put in. It can be exhausting opening a practice....if you lose focus. When you feel tired, become aware of what you are focusing most on. Are you focused on problems, the work that goes into opening a practice, the tasks.....or....on the vision, the dream, the purpose of serving others, why you became a chiropractor to begin with?
Think about the quality of the relationships you are building. It's tricky opening a practice....isn't it? LOL I get it. We all wear other hats besides being a business owner. We are moms, spouses, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, best friends, mentors, coaches and so on.........build your life into your practice and build your practice into your life. Make your loved ones part of the dream. Balance for me was NOT "I'm a doctor by day, and a mom by night" No....I was a business owner by day and night, mom by day and night, spouse by day and night, friend by day and night. I made my family part of my dream, not separate from it
Become competent as a business owner! Set goals on how you are going to become competent as a business owner. Being a business owner is a learned skill, just like you learned to become a doctor. I read a comment in a women's FB group that said "you don't need to pay someone to open a practice". Such bad advise!! I guess you could do it on your own, ask friends for advise, read a book or take a webinar, but are you REALLY getting everything you need to open a practice.
Most of the people out there giving advise can't figure it out for themselves. Seek people who have gone before you and have accomplished what you would like to accomplish, AND people who are TRAINED COACHES (just because someone was able to accomplish something doesn't mean they know how to teach it! I passed third grade math with an A, but I certainly can't teach it)
Hope this helps @everyone of my students setting goals and creating their vision!!
