I'm Tired and Burnt Out
Jul 01, 2024"I’m tired and burnt out." I hear that often from women in chiropractic. There was a time I felt the same way myself. Let’s face it—being a chiropractor, a business owner, a mom, a wife, a friend, a daughter… phew! It can all be exhausting!
But if you are a chiropractor, one thing is for sure: you are destined for it! Being a chiropractor does not happen by accident. Even if you "fell into it," that was no accident. Who in their right mind would go into a profession that goes against the grain, where nobody knows what it REALLY is, and to be financially successful, you have to care for LOTS of people?
You and I would, of course. Why? Because it is our destiny! It's what we LOVE, who we are, and what excites us about life. Think about that feeling when you set the atlas just right. AMAZING!
So, why all the burnout and the "I'm thinking about quitting"?
1. Focus
Think about what you've been focusing on. If you are focusing on the one person who didn’t sign up, or the event where nobody signed up, then of course you will become depressed. And you are going to attract more things that make you depressed. Focus on what did go right—like that perfect atlas adjustment, that healed patient, the people who DID show up to your office that day. Changing your focus will change your state, which will change what you attract!
2. Meaning
What meaning are you assigning to the circumstances in your life? I had a patient walk out of the office the other day and not sign up for care. Ouch! That always hurts, especially when you know in your heart of hearts this person’s life will drastically change under care. I was pretty bummed about it. I felt like I let the patient down, like I should have done something or said something different. Later, I found out that person was notorious for bad-mouthing local businesses. He was the kind of guy who was not happy anywhere. So, was it a loss, or God’s protection? Well, it depends on the meaning you assign it.
3. Physiology
Master the skill of changing your physiology in a moment! Your physiology will determine what you attract and what you repel into and out of your life. I say this because I love you—stop crying, put on your big girl panties, and get to work! There is no crying in chiropractic! Just start doing—doing the talks, doing the screenings, contributing to your community, serving patients, posting videos, writing blogs, and being joyful while you are serving. You will see how quickly your physiology changes when you are being productive. You will build momentum, gain traction, and start seeing the fruits of your labor!
YOU GOT THIS! DON’T QUIT! YOU ARE POWERFUL!
