5 steps essential to THRIVING in an economic winter
Nov 24, 2023What if I told you, that opening a practice during an economic downturn, can actually be extremely rewarding with the right help?
Yes it is true, we are in the midst of a financial winter.
Government assistance from Covid is stopping, people are having to get back to work and are now facing the financial uncertainty of deferred payments and inflation.
Many of you have asked me if you should wait for the economic spring or summer to open a practice. And the answer is....not necessarily if you have the right guidance.
It's time to pivot! What worked before....will NOT work now. And there is NO room for communication mistakes simply because people are a lot more careful about where they put their hard earned money.
BUT, that doesn't mean they won't put their money into living a chiropractic lifestyle, as long as, it supports their identity, their deepest desires and their most core values. It drives me crazy when I hear people say that chiropractic is the first "luxury" to go when finances get tight. It won't be if you have created a STRONG culture in your practice. Same reason some practices flourished during Covid and others folded.
Here are 5 steps essential to THRIVING in an economic winter.
1. Energy flows where your focus goes. Be mindful of what you are focusing on. Are you focusing on that 1 patient who didn't start care instead of the 10 that did? Are you immersed in the negativity of the news and other people around you? Protect your mind, and take control of your focus. Change your focus, to change your emotion which will change your physiology.
2. Remember......some of the world's riches men and women were created during some of the coldest of economic winters. Great athletes, entrepreneurs and business men and women such as Babe Ruth, John Dillinger, Michael J. Cullen, James Cagney, Charles Darrow, and J. Paul Getty all got rich during the Great Depression.
3. Be ready to pivot. What you did in the past will NOT work now. We are in a different time of the world. So make a change. If you don't know what to change, start by changing anything.
4. Learn how to communicate in a way, that moves people. When people are in a place of worry, scarcity and fear they are not in an empowered state. If they are not in an empowered state, they will NOT move on care. Learning how to communicate this way is not hard, but it is a skill and you can learn it too! Learn this and you WILL have an abundant practice in ANY economy.
5. Get a coach. LOL. I know I sound like a broken record, but don't try to re-invent the wheel in an economy like this!! Save yourself the stress and find someone who is doing what you want to do, the way you want to do it and do what she does. This is called modeling. It's the fastest route to get to where you want to go.
Sometimes WINTER can be the BEST season of all!!
